Eligibility: NBVLC courses are only available to students registered in a New Brunswick Anglophone School District high school.
CURRENT COURSE OFFERINGS
Categories
Six subject areas, aligned with the NB curriculum.
Online learning at NBVLC is structured and teacher-guided — not independent study.
Advanced Placement (AP)
College-level courses, taught online, still connected to your school.
AP may be a good fit for students ready for a challenging workload, interested in post-secondary preparation, and able to manage independent learning.
Current AP course offerings are:
Important distinction
Registering for an NBVLC AP course is not the same as registering for the AP exam. NBVLC provides the online course — your home school coordinates the College Board exam process, local exam logistics, and any exam-related fees.

WHO DOES WHAT
NBVLC PROVIDES:
Access to the online AP course through Brightspace
A qualified NBVLC teacher who delivers instruction, gives feedback, and grades coursework
The course structure — weekly units with Friday deadlines
Ongoing support and communication when students have questions about course content
Progress updates shared with the student, home school, and family
HOME SCHOOL PROVIDES
Submits the student’s NBVLC course registration and confirms it fits their academic plan and prerequisites
A local point of contact (school counsellor or administrator) for support
Registration for the AP exam itself, separate from the NBVLC course registration
Confirmation of exam dates, location, and fees
The physical space and coordination for the student to write the AP exam
STUDENT/FAMILY COMMITS TO
Managing time independently and meeting weekly deadlines — AP moves at a demanding, self-directed pace
Staying engaged and participating regularly in the course
Reaching out to the NBVLC teacher early when help is needed, rather than waiting
Keeping in touch with the home school regarding exam registration, dates, and fees
Completing all course requirements and writing the AP exam at the home school
Timing matters
All AP exams are written in May. A Semester 1 AP course typically ends in January, so you’ll need independent review time before the exam. A Semester 2 AP course runs right up to exam time, with a shorter, more compressed prep window — worth factoring in if you have a choice of semester.
